An C18th English Grand Country House filled with great art,furniture and jewellery [ very much of the Jane Austen/ Bridgerton period ]. With world famous paintings by Rembrandt ,Vermeer and Gainsborough,and a a small jewellery gallery .The house well known for its use as a film location [ Notting Hill ,Mansfield Park]] is set in landscaped grounds at the top of London in historic Hampstead. Learn about the residents of the house Lord Mansfield and his niece Dido Belle and follow their story, and see the grand “Swagger” portraits from the Stuart period .After touring the house we can stop for cup of tea and a jam and clotted cream scone in the ancient kitchens, there is also charming secondhand book shop and gift shop on site We will then take a late afternoon walk down into Hampstead town ,through its historic back streets and alleyways with great views over London to learn about its literary connections. [ Tour approx 3 hours meeting at 1.30pm ]
